Asian Highlight on the April Session of Human Rights Council’s Institution-Building Working Groups
16 May 2007 7:00 pm

On the same day that the UN General Assembly elected the new members of the Human Rights Council (Council), FORUM-ASIA released its Asian Highlight on the April session of the Council's institution-building working groups. Offering insight into the progress made in each of the six working groups, this latest issue in the Asian Highlight series comes as the Council enters the final month of its institution-building process.
This issue of the Asian Highlight covers the 12-27 April 2007 session of the Human Rights Council’s (the Council’s) institution-building Working Groups. It examines the key issues in each working group and the positions of select Asian States*, taking exception to this policy where it is necessary to include references to other States for coherence in reporting.

The purpose of this issue is to inform Asian human rights defenders and organisations on the state of play of the Council’s institution-building process as at the end of the April session of the working groups.

For a comprehensive report on the Council’s institution-building process and each working group please read the International Service for Human Rights’ Council Monitor series.
