Pakistan: Condolence on tragic attack at Police Training Center Quetta

The National Commission for Justice and Peace, a rights based organisation of Pakistan Catholic Bishops’ Conference, strongly condemns the tragic attack on the police training centre that has killed over 61 people and more than 165 are injured.

His Excellency Bishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Chairperson of NCJP (Bishop of Faisalabad) and Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Yousaf Mani, National Director of NCJP and Mr. Cecil Shane Chaudhry, Executive Director of NCJP in a joint statement said that killing young generation training to serve the people of Pakistan is an inhuman act. They emphasised that such tragic attack on the innocent young trainee recruits is totally unacceptable and that the government of Pakistan needs to improve their security plans in Balochistan Province.

They stressed that Balochistan province in past 15 years have witnessed more tragic and violent incidents than any other province. Many young lives have been lost by extremist forces. They stated that the Commission and the Catholic Church stand firmly with the people of Balochistan and police institutes in this hour of need and further pleaded the government to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.

This tragic incident has caused bereavement throughout the country. While praying for the deceased trainee recruits, they extended their condolences to the families of the victims, praying to Our Lord God to grant them strength to overcome this irreparable loss and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in this cruel incident.
