18 March 2009 1:54 am
On 6 March, a group of students in Manila, Philippines, blocked the photo exhibition on political prisoners in Burma inside their campus. The exhibition was organised by the Free Burma Coalition – Philippines, hosted by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
The students claiming to be "genuine activists" tore copies of the leaflets and told the coalition to fold up the exhibit. They also forced all the Free Burma Coalition members and volunteers to leave the campus, even by slapping head of a member.
The coalition issued a statement on the day, condemning "this barbaric act of 'gangster activism'". Please click here to read the statement.
