Professor Kwak elected to be the Superintendent of Seoul education office

A member of Korean House for International Solidarity (KHIS), Kwak No-Hyun, representing civil society and human rights organisations, has been elected on 3 June 2010 to be the new Superintendent of Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

He was a commissioner and secretary general of National Human Rights Commission of Korea and Advisory Council of Jurists member of Asia Pacific Forum. Professor Kwak has also been very active in the Asian NGOs Network on National Human Rights Institutions after he left the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.

During his four-year mandate, he is expected to mainstream human rights into school education in the capital.
