Civil
society organisations, including FORUM-ASIA as the convener of the
Asian NGOs Network on National Human Rights Institution (ANNI), will
organise NGO Engagement with the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human
Rights Institutions from 2-4 August 2009, in Amman, Jordan. FORUM-ASIA
and its members will attend the meeting, both as speakers and
participants.

This is a parallel event to the 14th annual
meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions
(APF), taking place from 3-6 August 2009 in the same city.

The
NGOs' Engagement meeting includes discussions on how national human
rights institutions (NHRIs) may effectively promote and protect human
rights even during states of emergency and during periods of armed
conflict. The participants will also discuss how NGOs in their
countries engage with their NHRIs.
