FORUM-ASIA’s member in Bangladesh Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU) published a book entitled, ‘Accommodating Migration in Climate Change Adaptation: A GBM Delta Bangladesh Perspective’ co-authored by Dr. Tasneem Siddiqui, Md. Rashed Alam Bhuiyan, Mr. Prodip K. Das, Prof. Gobinda Chakraborty and Mr. Mahmudol Hasan.

The book investigates the link between migration and climate change in Ganga-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM) delta of Bangladesh.

A major finding of the book reveals that 5 percent of the households interviewed have shifted their residence due to climate induced displacement over the last five years. Another 5 percent would like to shift but are unable to due to financial constraints and other reasons. Although migration is multi-causal, climate and environmental hazards are perhaps the sole determinants of migration in a number of cases.
