HRC30 Side Event: Enforced Disappearences in Sri Lanka, 18 September 2015

The side event  at the 30th Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council – “Enforced Disappearances in Sri Lanka” – will address the issue of enforced and involuntary disappearances in Sri Lanka.

Enforced and involuntary disappearances are one of the major human rights challenges in transitional justice processes in Sri Lanka.  Mr. Luciano Andres Hazan, from the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearance,  will provide participants with a deeper understanding of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, while mothers of the disappeared will share their demands to the Government of Sri Lanka and the international community.
