“The Awakening” is a right-based organization that believes that women and girls can make their own decision, exert control over their bodies and demand their rights by building their capacity in self-confidence, leadership and knowledge of women and girls about their rights and creating feminist platforms to challenge oppressive norms and power structures.

The organisation strives to empower the vulnerable and disenfranchised women in rural areas of Pakistan by building feminist leadership, advances for women’s human rights, advocate and mobilising for gender equality and social justice. Core competencies of “The Awakening” are social justice, girl education, elimination of violence against women and girls, advocacy and lobbying for pro-women laws and promoting a culture of tolerance by taking pragmatic measures for interfaith harmony and protecting the rights of religious minorities and transgender communities.
